A rather good week for me. Lots of practise and 3 tracks recorded and posted I've made some changes to my daily plan, including adding Blues Rhythms You Can Use to the schedule to ensure my rhythm chops get a workout too! I've also finally bitten the bullet and started doing the thing I've avoided for too long and am trying to learn to read music - I got a copy of Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method Grade 1 and am learning the notes in the open position as they relate to the musical staff. It's a challenge, but I don't want basic music reading to elude me - even if it's just so I can work out the melody of something at a very basic level. Today I have "Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory Complete Self Study Guide" coming that I intend to work through at a slow pace - again, I don't want my lack of musical theory to limit me (just my ability to play ) So, this week it's more BYCU, BRYCU, finalising Solo 3 of Solo Blues Guitar and some AM work as well as improv and musical theory. Finally, I watched a video on guitar pedals and how you can stack them - as I have the Boss SD1 and BD2 (as in the video) I have started to make modifications to my recording rig to be inline with the demonstration - next month I'm hoping to buy a tremolo and clean boost to complete my setup Here's the video for those who may be interested...

You're getting a tremendous amount accomplished WPB - wow three songs in one week! I just had an okay week, busy with other stuff and a bit lazy too. Got quite a bit of stuff for "What You Give" recorded and a lot of videos made. Not too much stuff left to do, just the outro and a long melody line / solo that goes over the last chorus. Then I can get to re-recording all the parts I'm unhappy with

A week of snorkeling, sunning, and drinking margaritas in Cozumel didn't do much for my guitar progress, but I guess you've got to find some balance in life . Got back in late Friday night, and I'm proud to say that I did a Guitar Aerobics session yesterday, and I intend to do two today (which will get me back on the correct day of the week per the book). Haven't recorded anything for quite a while - it's kind of a pain when you don't have a fixed recording setup. WPB, if you wouldn't be offended, I may shadow you through BRYCU, and actually try to put some videos together of it. What I'm really hoping is that some of your productivity will rub off on me!

No, of course I wouldn't be offended! I hope we'll be able to spur each other onwards to complete the book! I'm pleased if I've been able to encourage you (or anyone else) to practise and get better

For the past week I've been away from my home base visiting family. I won't be back for another 10 days. I'll be raring to go when I get back.
Man, WBP, I haven't done 3 videos in the past 3 years let alone 3 in one week. Keep up the good work.
Regarding reading music: Do it! You won't regret it. I can't read read worth a darn but I can decipher a melody, find the notes on the fret board without too much trouble and play the notes with their correct rhythms. It's just a matter of doing it regularly. I recommend finding books or sheet music that don't have tab. If it has tab below the notation it is hard not to cheat and look at it. Old guitar method books are something to check out.
Anybody watch Rick Beato's interview with Steve Lukather? He not only sung and played with Toto he was also a session guitarist who played on tons of hit records. Anyway, very interesting interview (as are all of Beato's interviews).
