There are two lessons in Chapter 5 of "Jazzin' The Blues", this is the first - "Too, Too Smooth". I'm a little happier with the tone I was able to get on the lead guitar this time - seems more like a "jazz" tone. Also happier that I finally seemed to get the two parts and the audio all lined up better.
Both guitar parts were processed thru Line 6 Pod Farm, audio recorded in Logic X. Again, video recorded on iPhone, whole thing assembled in iMovie.

Very, very smooth! You've got those chord changes down and really nailed the phrasing on the solo part.

Jack, Tommy, and Joachim. Thanks for listening. I know it's kind of hard to recognize, but that's a 12 bar blues with lots of substitutions. I was proud I finally got the semi-hollowbody to sound something like a jazz guitar...

Your semi hollow body guitar does sound nice. How do you like it?

Tommy,
I don't know if you're familiar with the SX line - they're pretty inexpensive, made in China, but have the reputation of being of fair quality. I bought that guitar maybe 5 or so years ago, after seeing B. B. King in concert, absolutely loving his tone. I never really felt I got anywhere near to his tone with it, and just sort of preferred the strat (maybe just familiarity). I was also kind of interested in a cheaper guitar I wouldn't feel bad about making adjustments to. I think I paid $199 for it. Anyway, I've had fun with it, but would definitely classify it as my "number two" guitar. If I was looking to buy a semi-hollowbody now, I'd probably try to go to Guitar Center and play a bunch of them, see what I thought about them. I've never really been one to buy a bunch of guitars - figure I need to play better before I would do that. For years, my Yamaha acoustic and the strat were the only guitars I had. Now I'm up to three with the SX...

Great job, Bruce. You got your good tone back. A positive comment from John G. is always nice.

Thanks JohnG and Phil. Yeah, Phil, doing these has forced me to read online articles and watch videos to try to get some better tone going for these. This video is the one I've been most happy with the lead tone I got. Thanks for the comments.
