Not much to say on this one; working the pinky-finger is still a challenge to me - especially *starting* a phrase with it - however, think I managed to eventually get it to do what I wanted Tone was slightly grittier than perfectly clean and the Boss BD2 is my current go-to pedal for all my blues playing. Ruby->BD2->Catalyst and I'm happy. Enjoy!

Knocked another one out of the park, Wannaplay! Very nicely played, great guitar tone. The rhythm guitar was up a bit too much in the mix, but I think you said you are using JG's old BT's, so you probably don't have any ability to control that. It is really neat to hear these BYCU tracks again. Are you miking the Catalyst, or using the line out? You are getting really nice recordings of your guitar using your setup.

No miking - using the inbuilt XLR out to go direct into my USB based mixer which my Reaper DAW is able to see and record from. I have some nice reverb effects that I use to make the guitar sound like it's in a large space. I also usually add spring-reverb in the DAW as an effect (if I want spring reverb) so I can tweak how much spring is applied rather than record the effect and regret it afterwards for being too much or too little in the end product. Compression is a must to smooth out the tones in a recording. I've also improved my mixing ability as I now manage the peaks much better and ensure I have no spikes above the zero mark - sometimes I even have to compress and lower the volume of backing tracks to manage this. I'd happily write a post on my efforts if it interested enough people.

Nicely played, WPB. My major criticism of some of John's BYCU backing tracks is that they're too busy and get in the way of the melody. This was one of them. I found it difficult to play over some of the tracks. Did anybody else have that problem?

That was really nice WPB! Some tasty bends in there too. You get the most gorgeous sounds out of that Tele, now you're making me want one Phil, I can't remember having that problem, but that doesn't mean I didn't - just that I can't remember it lol.

Maybe it's just me and my simple mindedness. I get distracted very easily.
