Here is my recording of Bending The Blues: soundcloud.com/joachim-dahl-1/bendingthebluesI've been practicing bends for awhile, and I thought by now I had the toughest fingers outside the delta, but they are in agonizing pain right now... Especially bending the 1st string is killing my fingers. Some bends could be better, and I have to work on muting the bend release with my fretting hand. but all-in-all I am content with the recording. I used the gear in my profille picture, an Epiphone Riviera and a Fender Super Champ x2 set to emulate a "Fender '65 Deluxe" with reverb and high gain - I think it's a good tone for a tune like "Bending the Blues". Let me know what you think, good or bad... Joachim

That was pretty darn good. Yeah, some of the bends needed just a little more push, and you know which ones, but overall it was good. Didn't you say you've only been playing a short time, or do I have you mixed up with someone else? I recently read somewhere that Eric Clapton was asked if he still practices things like scales and exercises. Supposedly he answered that the only technique he still practices regularly is bending. So, Joachim, we are in good company. Although I'll have to admit that Clapton's bends are a little better than ours. Be sure to wipe the blood off your guitar before starting "Bends, Slides and Shifts." Phil

Very nice Joachim! As you said a few bends could be better but that will just come with time. I always find the best remedy for sore fingers is to wrap them around an ice cold can of beer - I think you've earned it

Hey that sounded great! Let's hope your fingers hurry up and feel better so you can get back on it. Looking forward to hearing more of your recordings. One of these days I'm going to figure out some way of recording my attempts. I know it's a great learning tool.

Great job, Joachim! Yeah, the bends are a lifetime of work, but you're coming along very well. I like Jack's idea for sore fingers, too! My fingers aren't even that sore, but I may need some preventive therapy...

thanks for the feedback.
Jack, that is a very useful practice-tip - one I wish John G. had added to the BYCU books! I found that the treatment has an accumulative effect; I will probably repeat it a couple of times tonight just to make sure those fingers are in mint condition before moving on...
