Hey guys, looks like I'm first this week, sorry I missed last week. Still playing a little every day, focusing on things that seem to strengthen motions I overdid getting my injury, so I'm keeping it short. Stuff with barre chords that require a lot of first finger motion transitioning in and out, the riff for Outside Woman Blues, and a few pentatonic/blues scale phrases that require a lot of first finger movement.
In about 2 weeks I'll be back in the real world. Leaves already starting to change here. Tomorrow and Tuesday look like possibly the last 2 days for temps to reach the 70s for the year.

Hey Grampa, we've got a few leaves changing color here too We're supposed to hit 80 on Tuesday but then down in the 60's for the rest of the week. I had a pretty good week working on "Goodbye to Romance." They rhythm parts are done and I've got a take of the solo that is "acceptable," i.e. will need to do another thousand takes lol. All that's left is the additional guitar that plays melodic accompaniments; I spent a lot of time getting all the little bits of the rhythm guitar parts sounding good, only to now realize they'll be mostly covered up by this additional guitar. Oh well, it was good practice I think the next Fixit session is on the 27th so it should be easy enough to finish it up by then. The accompaniment parts aren't technically difficult, but getting the timing on the phrases just right, and getting it to sound nice and relaxed will take some practice. Hope everyone is doing well

A day late again. I think I actually picked up the guitar every day this week, or maybe missed one day? I've set a humble goal to try to actually record something this next week - probably just a simple 12-bar blues. I feel like setting this kind of humble goal will propel what little momentum I've accumulated forward.
Man, you guys from the northern US! Temps in the 70's and 80's! Sheesh! We're supposed to hit 100 again Tuesday and Wednesday. On the plus side, we were able to take the boat out on the lake yesterday. Unfortunately, looks like I'm leaking drive lube, so probably done with boating for the season, and likely have to have to take it in to the marina for some costly work. If you've ever owned a boat, you've probably heard that the word "boat" is actually an acronym for "break out another thousand".

Hello guys! I am new here. I recently started The Blues You Can Use and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I have been teaching myself guitar on and off for a few years but this book has given me the enthusiasm you need to get back into the habit of playing regularly. I just reached the 4th lesson and the Swinging Blues it has proven to be a challenge for me. (I am not very good at playing as you can see). Hope this is the right place to post about my progress!

Welcome, Salvatierra! Yes, this is the right place to post about your progress, or feel free to open a thread of your own if you have anything more specific you'd like to talk about. BYCU is an excellent program for self-teaching. I would like to addend your post to say: "I am not very good at playing YET". Keep with it, and good luck! Check in here whenever you'd like.

I always heard the definition of a boat was a hole in the lake you pour money into. Hopefully my lil' kayak won't turn into that, and hopefully it won't be too bad to get your boat fixed up.
We were 70s today and 70s tomorrow, but then I think 8 consecutive days in the 50s, lows some of those in the 30s, and the warmest it is supposed to get before I leave is 61. I think I'm a good distance north of Jack up here. A neighbor here lives the rest of the year in Nebraska. He's saying the same thing you are--back home (for him) it's still near record hot, around 100 some days. Yuck.
Great you're back to playing every day. I think once I get home I'll probably try to record something too, it's been a long time and I don't have the ability to do it here.
