Here's the latest Jazz collaboration that I participated in. It's a Jazz standard called "Out of Nowhere". 19 people from 7 different countries participated. My solo comes in about 2:30. I got really poor quality video on this one, but I'm happy with the audio.

Nicely played, Phil. These collaborations are a lot of fun to watch - you get a peek into people's guitar spaces around the world. I like the guy coming in at 1:03 on a steel string flat top! I thought your video portion was fine, though the image is a little grainy - maybe you just need better lighting? or maybe one of those high-falutin' mirrorless cameras? Good job, and thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Bruce. Glad you liked it.
Yes, it's fun to be part of and, like you said, it's interesting to see other people's practice spaces and the different guitars they use. You've got everything from flat tops, acoustic archtops, archtops with pickups, Telecasters, Strats, and ES335s played with picks, fingers, and bare thumbs. The different styles of solos are also very interesting. Nobody knows what anybody else's solo sounds like until we hear the final product.
Poor video quality very often is just a lighting problem. I need to experiment more with the lights. However, audio trumps video in these situations.

Thank you, Jack. I appreciate that. I like to think my solos improved when I stopped trying to be clever and cool (which I never was) and focused on being more melodic.
I've had this solo floating around for quite a while. The Mickey Baker book has a solo for the 1st 16 bars of this tune. I challenged myself to come up with something for the next 16 bars about 2 years ago.
One of these days I'd like to record the full solos I have for these songs. I write out a full 32 bar solo for these collaborations and then pick out the 8 bar section that's assigned to me.
