Last week's update was pretty dead. I hope things improve.
This week I completed a 32 bar solo for "Autumn Leaves". I guess that could be considered an accomplishment if you overlook the fact that thousands of Jazz guitarists could have improvised a better solo on the spot. But, every step forward helps. If I were to do this with each of the 25 or so Jazz standards I know I'd probably make some progress. I'm not going to upload a video of the solo any time soon. It's part of a project I'm working on with another guitarist. Hopefully we'll end up with a video worth posting. I also bought another Truefire course and an actual book. The Truefire course is on fingerstyle Jazz guitar with a focus on walking bass lines. It not only shows you how to build walking bass lines but also focuses on the fine points like articulation and techniques that bass players use to bring some life into a bass line. This course will get me back to working on technique which I've neglected. The book, "The Barry Harris Harmonic Method for Guitar," deals with theory and chord progressions.

Pretty good week here. Played some every day, and think I got some physical activity most days, too. Definitely getting some calluses back. Been working the BLYCU assignment, beginner jazz standards, and some rock licks and rhythm patterns. I will need to try to set up some plan so that I don't just fritter away my time - probably to get back to "Further On Up the Road", and to learn some other actual songs.

I was on a short vacation without the guitar, so only played for a single day last week. I am still hopeful that I will make the BLYCU deadline next Sunday, though.

Busy week, so not too much guitar time. Still hackin' away at Stranglehold, I can play the intro part poorly at 4/5ths tempo. There's a mini-solo after the first verse that starts with a bunch of unison bends and then there's a flurry of notes at the end - I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to play the flurry lol. I think I've got the notes figured out but I'm thinking some of it should be pulloffs on a single string instead of picked notes on two strings...meh, the possibilities are endless Been working on the bass line a bit, that's fun. There's a little bass solo in there with some full step bends - those make my fingers hurt Anyhow hope to make more progress this week, maybe even get going on the main solo.

Not much really just the show I posted, and go over those tunes again. Sound much better at home, I dont know. Realized I suck at youtube lol. Wife made me stop classes until September, but I might sneak into one whilst she be at the beach with my son since I have to work.
