Here's the latest collaboration I was involved in. You might recognize the guy who follows Frank Vignola at around 1:55.

That's really cool, Phil. I bet it's a lot of fun to be part of these! Yeah, it is. And it forces you to focus and come up with a solo by a deadline. I was a bit intimidated when I did the first one because I knew there were some high level players involved. Then I saw that people at all levels were participating. I was really surprised by the lap guitar, banjo and mandolin. Nobody except the guy putting it together knew about that. Those 3 guys are also very good guitarists. I was really impressed by some of the solos. All those solos were done in isolation without hearing what anybody else was doing yet they flowed nicely one to the next. I'm looking forward to the next project.

Great stuff Phil, your solo was sweet and really fit the song! They know you're the coolest so they put you right in the center of the intro I'm amazed at the production on that, taking all those different guitars, a mandolin, resonator and banjo and getting them to all have similar tone and fit together so well. Really nice choice of songs as well. Bravo!

The guy who does the audio on these says that he simply adjusts the volume, cleans up a little noise (probably with EQ), uses a little compression, and a touch of reverb. He assumes that everybody submits a recording with the sound/tone they want. He does, however, request that you don't use reverb on your submitted recording. The fact that everything fits together so well tone wise is apparently just a happy accident.
You guys ought to think about doing something like this. You just need one person who's able to herd cats to organize it.

Excellent Phil. Your segment was very relaxed and melodic. The tune was very reminiscent of what I used to hear playing on the radio at my grandparents house growing up--a great bit of nostalgia.

Grampa: I never imagined that I'd be playing and enjoying this kind of music. You never know the direction you'll eventually take.
Regarding your upcoming retirement. How many people are able to retire at 57? Not many. I think Bruce is about the same age if not younger. That's an incredible accomplishment in this day and age when so many have to continue working into their 70s because they can't afford to retire.
