Anybody here ever looked at Barry Harris's "b6 diminished scale" stuff? I stumbled across it a couple of years ago. However, back then it didn't make a lot of sense to me and now it is beginning to.
Barry Harris is a pianist and life long Jazz teacher. He recently turned 91. Anyway, his "b6 diminished" method is a fascinating way to approach Jazz and I'm interested in delving into it a bit.
There are plenty of videos on YT of Harris himself teaching and at least 2 good guitar channels dealing with his approach. Both move pretty fast and are hard to follow with stopping and backing up every 3 minutes. I'd like to know if anybody has Roni Ben-Hur's DVD and if so, is it worth getting. It's not available for download. Only DVD for $20 with a $7 shipping and handing fee. Supposedly Roni Ben-Hur (that's a damn cool name, BTW) explains it for guitarists and I'd like to get some feed back before buying it.

I saw the Adam Neely video. I used to watch him a lot. I'll have to re-watch that one. Regarding Barry Harris. Just watch this short video and you'll get an idea of what it's all about. Much better explanation than I could give. I watched videos about this a couple of years ago but never understood the application. Now I see it could have been extremely helpful because it actually simplifies everything from comping to soloing. I may get the Roni Ben-Hur DVD because he supposedly explains this system well for guitar. The Frank Vignola collaboration video should be ready in a couple of days. I hope they used my part.
