Well, as promised, here's the challenge video I created for the other site.
The challenge was simple enough - create a solo for the provided backing track.
My concept was simple - stick the the G-Major Pentatonic as a "home base" and then try to use fragments of the chord shapes matching the chord being played at the time (hope that makes sense). Also tried to have a bit of a motif in there, All-in-all I think it went well.

Really nice stuff there WPB! Melodic, emotional, and fits the chord progression perfectly. Excellent work! I had a fairly mediocre week, still working on "The Unforgiven." Tried recording the classical guitar part and that worked out pretty well - who knows maybe if I work on that and only that, I might have it done by the end of the week lol. But there's lots of other parts to the song, a melodic accompaniment on electric, a little pre-solo solo on electric, the heavy rhythm part, and of course the main solo. The transcription I've been using has pretty much all the right notes, but played in places on the fretboard that don't make much sense. I found a couple of lessons on YouTube and I'm taking parts of those with parts from the transcription I've got and trying to make something out of them. Oh well, still staying moderately motivated and having fun

Cool stuff, Wannaplay!
Mediocre week here, too. Busy with a bunch of stuff, didn't even pick up the guitar Friday and Saturday. Been working mostly on the BLYCU challenge, but don't think I'll be able to post anything today. The next Lick in the challenge will be Lick 14, which will be the last one in the first section (slow blues in C). After that, we'll finally move on to another backing track!

Spent quite a bit of time this week on Jazz Blues. Figured out (without looking at any tabs) and practiced walking bass patterns with chord "stabbs." One pattern from a 6th string root (Bb7) and another from a 5th string root (F7 at 8th fret). Actually, I've been doing this for most of the month spending about 10 minutes a day practicing them. This consistent repetition thing really works.
I also worked on some Charlie Parker Blues solos. Taking a saxophone solo and applying it to guitar is an interesting (and at times frustrating) exercise.
I was digging thru the massive amount of stuff I have on my computer and ran across a Jazz Blues course I completely forgot about. It has some chord melody stuff that was extremely difficult for me when I tried it 3 years ago. Not just physically challenging in being able to change chords quickly, but also mentally challenging. I wasn't familiar with the chord voicings and couldn't remember or relate them to the fret board. Anyhoo, it was a relative breeze working on it now.
It's difficult to objectively determine if you're making any progress, but this is one way to check. Dig up something that used to be almost impossible to play and see how hard it is now. You might surprise yourself.

My practice week was pretty bad, but I've come to accept that my practice time is a little sparse these days.
With the time I had, I worked on the licks and some BB King a bit. I'll see tonight if I can put something together for the licks challenge, but otherwise I'll try to catch up as quick as possible.

Last one to the party once again. Time flies when your stuck inside and can't lick any door knobs.
I've been having my guitar in my hands a lot this last week, working on filling some holes in my playing. It's a humbling experience, to realize you don't know as much as you think you know. I've been staying on a drills type course from Chris Buono on alternate picking. I've been stuck on one exercize for over a week and yesterday something clicked. I'm now flying thoug it. It's a good feeing to have some progress. I've been pretty rhythm focused lately but I'm kind getting a little bored so time to change.
