Spent the bulk of my effort slugging it out with Challenge licks 10 and 12. Also a pretty good amount of effort to the epilogue to my recording project. Also still working Electric Gypsy intro.

Not too much guitar playing for me last week, busy painting the house and then I decided to put on all new rain gutters while I was at it. I messed around a bit with the monthly challenge at the other site, we've got a country style backing track and we're supposed to write a solo for it. I was thinking of maybe doing my own version of the backing track and taking some of the country out of it lol.

Been working on the lick 10 & 12 challenge a bit more faithfully than I've done on the last couple of challenges. Otherwise, been working on some simple rock and roll songs. In a moment of weakness, I bought a reggae guitar book, and I fear I'm likely to succumb to a John Prine tab book. When I retire in a few years, I should have plenty of material to keep me busy the for the rest of my years. I'm also still jonesing pretty hard for one of those wireless Yamaha THR practice amps...

How is it going? I spent most of the week working on In the Flesh and from the other site but a variation my instructor worked up of using 2nd chord turn arounds. Did some theory work, where you change the fourth into the 1 then back into tone again, i get the theory but not sure I can explain it lol Here is a rough mp3 of the exercise been doing! Jazzy Blues Practice.mp3 (417.46 KB)

Not too much practice for me either. I got a little further on transcribing/learning "Sweet Little Angel" by BB King, and looked a bit at the August challenge for ActiveMelodies.

Doh, looks a week flew by quick. I'm pretty sure I forgot about posting last week.
I've been working on rhythm parts on a few songs Born Under A Bad Sign, Sweet Home Chicago, and Five Long Years. I think it's really been helpful rather than just learning etudes. I also became an all access member to another site and have access to the entire catalog of lessons. I'm starting to find some holes in my knowledge, since I'm self-taught, I figured there were some. Plus it embraces my ADHD and lets me go from Jazz, to Blues, to Bluegrass, to banjo to bass pretty quickly.
cunningr nice tones. I really struggle with finding a good jazz tone that does not sound to muddy. You nailed it buddy.
bluesbruce I've never had anyone badmouth Yamaha THR it would be pretty safe bet. I was looking at one but decided on a bigger amp I could jam with in the end. I'm not gigging or jamming but it might happen! If you are a pedal guy see how well it takes them. A lot of modeler amps don't take pedals well.
