Well, I got something in for the Challenge. Both licks were tough for me to get under my fingers, then they didn't fit together smoothly and 9 really doesn't fit in the measure 7-8 section well. I tried stringing stuff together Friday night and Saturday morning, hence the rather unimaginative ending. Recording is getting a bit easier, red light trauma is a little less intense.
On my project with SIL I composed a ~90-second epilogues, that of course I can't play worth a crap. Lots of arpeggiated chords exposing my picking hand shortcomings, so I'm back to putting extra focus on my right hand. Makes practice difficult.
I've dropped practicing the repeat 3 turnaround lick in the Electric Gypsy Intro by itself. Still practicing the entire intro so it's still part of the mix, but I wanted to shave some time off of EG because the double-lick Challenge is really taxing.
I also bought a book called "Jazz Guitar Technique" (Andrew Green, iirc). I'm not going jazzy, it just looked like a fairly thorough and broad gamut of exercises and phrasing examples to knot up one's mechanics.

Well I finally got "In the Sweet By-and-By" recorded. Kind of cool working in an entirely different style than I'm used to. I wish I would have come up with my own arrangement instead of just using Banjo Ben Clarke's - some of the submissions at the other site were really emotional. Oh well, we'll see what this month brings I'm afraid I didn't get anything done on our licks challenge - I'm meaning to though! Also got a birthday coming up at the end of the month so I've been browsing a bit on Sweetwater - not that I'd actually buy anything - you guys know me better than that Other than that I'm painting the house so that kind of gets in the way of the important stuff like guitar.

Sounds great Jack. Very nice job keeping the melody and accompaniment separate but together. If I was a good programmer I'd write myself an app that whenever it detects a Sweetwater or Guitar Center URL it would put up a big obnoxious flashing banner: "Nothing to see here. Please move along." I'd already be retired if I didn't have to feed my guitar habit.

Just like jack1982 - I did my submission for this month's challenge over at the other site. My own arrangement and solo-meledy idea:

Thanks Grampa and Joachim! Much appreciated Wannaplayblues, loved your version, it's so somber - there's no higher achievement in music (IMO) than bringing a lot of emotion to your song / playing. Really nice!

Well done both Jack and Wannaplay! Been vacationing at the lake all week with family, so didn't get in as much guitar as I should (I did get some time in, though). Caught a few fish, had some fun in the sun, probably ate and drank too much.

Well not much new from me started learning in the flesh last night, was at the beach last week no guitar.
Started wiring new pedalboard thinking of buying a boss switching unit to make an flexible unit.
