Wow - I'm first this week! Ok, well I continued with my track from the other site and managed to get it recorded Enjoy the HD and the Hendrix style. I added some slight reverb to the backing track to help it blend in with my guitar reverb sound. Think it worked well. Amp cranked up to 11 No idea what I'm learning this week...

Cool, wpb, love stompy swampy blues!
Tough week for me. BLYCU 7 is proving problematic, can't get it us to speed. EG going okay. Project with son-in-law going okay too. Metal core meets 70s prog requires a little smoothing, haha. I can only take so much kick drum to the center of the forehead.

Been working on some more Peter green early Fleetwood Mac I think song is called If youll be my baby anyway nice shuffle with some solid licks.
Also restrung 2 of 3 guitars broke another E String on my strat, ordered a 6 pack of high E strings. This one broke at the 2012 fret nothing sharp just doing alot of repetitive bending around there.

Great job WPB, very very cool! Crummy week for me, back is getting better but still stiff - I can play guitar but it's not terribly enjoyable. Messed around a bit with that Banjo Ben Clark version of "In the Sweet By-and-By", it's coming along sloppily on acoustic guitar. I should be working on my own arrangement for that July challenge at the other site, but this song is fun and I'm generally directionless anyway Think I'll strum a little "Angie" by the Stones for a bit now.

Were cool, WPB. Rich, I've been working on that song also. Are you learning it by ear, or how is your instructor picking out some licks for you? It's sounds like some really cool lessons. I am working on playing off chords in style of R&BYCU, and different related lessons in ActiveMelodies. And when I have a little time to spare I am learning some songs from "Live at the Regal" by BB King. But maybe Rich will sway me back at the path of FM Then I watched "Whiplash" with my eldest son this weekend. Great movie.

Well my instructor puts on a you tube video then we work through it, then next class he has it tabbed out, then its play along to get the note lengths a such. Shoot me an email and i will send you the tab pictures he sent me. The rhythm we worked out in class then I did some more work at home, then we play the 4th and 5th in different positions. Will message you my email address.

Nice, Wannaplay! Grampa, I'm glad to hear someone else is having a hard time getting Lick 7 up to speed. Jack, good to hear your back is better. I think I've picked up the guitar every day, still actually playing some BYCU! My wife and I are spending a four day weekend at the lake, so lots of sun and fun (and alcohol)... Didn't record anything, so nothing to show for it all.

Didn't do a whole lot this week. Spent most of my practice time going over some parts of the Mickey Baker book. No matter how many courses I have I still end up going back to this book. Every time I do I end up finding something I missed before or something useful that I forgot about. Maybe I should have worked through it the way I supposed to the first time. My playing technique may not be getting any better, but I am improving my ability to read standard notation. At my age I'll take any improvement where I can get it. Plus, in all seriousness, I sincerely believe that learning new things is good for old brains.

I had a good week of playing and practice. The bright side of COVID-19 is I play more guitar. This week was mostly focused on rhythm guitar and bouncing between Keith Wyatt's and BRYCU. I had a moment where I thought maybe I should learn some songs and not just practice for the sake of practicing. Yesterday I started working on Robert Johnson's Kind Hearted Woman Blues. I've also been working on hybrid picking especially with the Robert Johnson style of playing.
