Learning of Neil Peart's death Friday afternoon has completely derailed me. We Rush fans are a weird breed in general, and like the handful of my "Rush buddies" I've kept up with over time, this had been more of a gut punch than a person might think. I've dropped "Circumstances" from my itinerary for the time being. Everything else is coming along, albeit with lowered enthusiasm.

Sad news about Neil Pert. I broke out John G's "Jazzin' the Blues" book yesterday for another look. I worked thru it cover-to-cover a couple of years ago, but I kinda glossed over all the didactic stuff between the studies. Now I'm re-reading it and finding all kinds of useful info. There's a ton of good info packed into that book. I highly recommend it to anyone who's been toying with the idea of getting into Jazz. Jack, I saw the other thread where you mentioned problems with Reaper. That's the recording program, right? I have to dust it off and see if I have the same problem. Not sure if I remember how to use it.

Another Rush fan here, what a loss!
Well my practice has been kinda slow this week. I made a new friend happens to be a drummer trying to put a group together, so he has a keyboard player a lead guitarist and me now I guess. Not sure what the plan is at the moment, but should be fun.

Not much going this week... spending too much time with work! Saddened to hear of Neil Peart's passing, as well. My wife wanted to know why I was cranking all that Styx music! She did correct herself though, and said, "No that's Rush, isn't it?" LOL

Not sure if I remember how to use it. You remember, it's that thing where you can play something really well but then you hit the red button and you can't play it at all

Not the most productive practice week for me.
Jack, I had the same issue with Reaper. I chose to renew my license, though, as I've used Reaper for many years, and I wanted to support to developer.
At the spur of the moment I signed up for an evening class on improvisation. We will be a group of guitar players together, starting Wednesday - I am really excited to try this.

I forgot to mention that on a lark I tried a new style of pick, a Dunlop Flow 1.0mm. That's thicker than I normally use. I've sort of been going back and forth between Fender Medium and Tortex Jazz III (.88mm I think). I have to say I really like the Flow, it seems to play easier than the other two even though it is thicker. It lets me get my hand away from the strings a little more than the Jazz III but it feels like I maintain a better awareness of where the pick is going to hit the string. Maybe just a fad, but I'm digging it for now.
