Hi Everyone. I am having changes made to this site over the coming month. Hopefully, it will be seamless and without any disruption. Among the new features will be the introduction of online private lessons with me (skype, etc.). I will be looking at everything and making changes and additions with the relaunch of a new look and feel in September. I hope that's not too ambitious. If there are any changes you'd like to see, now is a good to to speak up. Thanks to all you stalwart members. JG

One thing that have often been missed on the forum is an organized way to store user-made backing tracks for the studies, and perhaps also for archiving user-made recordings of the studies themselves. I remember "sticky threads" being suggested as a solution at one point, and I suppose that would still be a good solution. A sticky thread is a thread that stays on top of the page, so it's always the thread you see first.
Your new plans sound fantastic, I will follow it closely!
BR Joachim

Online lessons does sound cool! Maybe more main categories - maybe one for discussions of each of your different books?

Sounds good, John. I'm assuming you're talking about your main website and not the forum. One thing I'd like to point out is that there is no longer a link from the forum page to your main website. There used to be one at the top of the forum. This is pretty important because people who stumble onto the forum may not ever visit your main website. They may not even know you have a website.
I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but I've done a bit of research on this and one-on-one Skype lessons may not be the best way to go. There are various technical issues in addition to the fact that it's still one-on-one and you can only do so many of those in a week.
Have you considered a subscriber website? That's where people pay a small monthly fee for access. Check out what Jimmy Bruno is doing jbguitarworkshop.com and Brian at Activemelody.com for a couple of good examples.
How did your European tour go?

Thank you Phil. I only just now saw this post. I have done skype lessons is the past, and there are limitations, for sure. But it worked ok. You're right that I can only do so many in a week. I have been considering a subscriber area. I could certainly reach more people that way. Thanks for the suggestions and sites to check out. I don't know (yet) how to put a link back to the site on this forum. Thanks to everybody who has pointed that out. Joachim, storing member created tracks is another good idea. I don't know how to do that either. You can see that this is a work in progress. Thanks everyone. JG

JG Proboards has a support forum. support.proboards.com/ Somebody there should be able to tell you how to do it. I imagine that it would be an easy fix, but sometimes things that should be easy aren't when dealing with computers.

Hey, thanks Phil! I found a way to create a button linking back to the BYCU homepage at the support form. I haven't yet found a way to create and place a BYCU icon linking to the site, but one step at a time, I suppose. Maybe you could check to see if it works for you. It's at the top, on the lower part of the banner. JG

Works fine for me, I click on the "back to Blues You Can Use homepage" and it takes me right back there.

Way to go, John! It works like a charm. I hope you don't seek out a career in web design now. The guitar world needs you.

I agree one to one Skype is not the way to go check out Brian at Activemelody.com format you will earn yourself a bigger reward , I love it owned and run by one man he puts out one lesson a week and a mini lesson and only charges around 80 dollars unbelievable value for the whole year non premium members get the first half of the lesson free but everyone ends up signing up . Members keep growing there must be over 100.000 by now easy . I just would like to add your publications were always up there and highly rated by pro guitarist and I as a crap guitarist found them top dollar .
