Surf guitar music is definitely rooted in the Blues (what's not?!?), and the sound of it really got me hooked. Also, as I'm not much of a singer and (for the sake of you all) I'll never be - therefore I'm very interested in learning Guitar instrumentals. I think this is good to learn by ear, and growing some ears would be beneficial anyway, so I think I'll give it a try... any thoughts/recommendations from you guys? Greetings, t. T I would think that you couldn't go wrong looking into the music of the Ventures. If you aren't familiar with it, www.vanderbilly.com has tons of instructional videos by individuals who break the songs down. Some are pretty good, some aren't. You should be able to find some videos to help you in your quest Keith aka GnLguy

Hi tbone,
I enjoy playing instrumental surf music. There are several books that feature surf tunes. Surf is number 23 of the Hal Leonard Play Along series. The CD that comes with it has each song with the guitar part and also just the backing tracks so you can play with the band. Another good surf music book is "Surf Guitar" published by Creative Concepts Publishing and distributed by Hal Leonard. Also "The Ventures Pipeline," another Hal Leonard book, has 25 surf instrumentals. All of these music books include tabs and standard notation.
Have fun with it!
Tom

tbone, I joined the Surfguitar101.com forum a few years ago. There is a ton of great information there. If you have a surf music question someone on that site will have the answer.
