I was kind of fearing the same thing. I still think it can be a valuable forum, but it's obviously going to take time. It may never recover to what it was before... I'm going to hang in for a while. Haven't been playing much (injured left index finger last summer, still kind of sore and stiff), but hoping to get back to it. On the plus side, I think I've learned how to make a video and post it to Youtube. Now I just have to do it! Hope you'll stick with it for a while, tbone - you've been probably the biggest contributor.

I'm so sorry to hear how discouraged you all are. I don't really know what to do to help. The last forum took off on its own, but I unwittingly allowed it to become infested with spammers and bots. I apologize to anybody who was infected by them. I can only tell you that I am keeping a much closer eye on this one.
Thanks for giving it a try. And thanks in advance to anyone who hangs in.

Thank you for sticking with John, thanks for such great teaching in your books and thank you for the lick of the day. We the members can promote this forum by participating on other guitar/blues forums and mentioning this one if the moderator of the other doesn't mind.

Are the tunes slightly different versions of the tunes on the CD that came with the book (not including the absence of the lead guitar of course)?

Well,
I've found my way back after a long layoff. I expect things will pick up now the new book is out.

That's a disappointing comment to make tbone. I bought my first BYCU book just as the Forum re opened and have followed it ever since though I don't usually log in or post so my presence is not always obvious. The sites biggest asset is the books, and I shall be getting another in the series soon when Father Christmas arrives. It may be that a new generation has to find them and appreciate what a quality resource they are before it returns to former glories.

I'm a recent return from the old forum. It's been a while since I visited the site and thought I'd create an account tonight.

ditto that Kevin. As I posted a little bit ago (http://bluesyoucanuse.freeforums.net/post/169/thread), I've had the course quite awhile and now just starting it seriously. So I guess, technically, I am also a recent return. It would be great to see some more activity here and some others to chat with about the lessons. jimh, did Santa bring you another in the series? Or were you not good all year?

Happy to say Santa delivered. He had enough hints! I'm just getting on top of lesson 6 in BYCU and my plan is to consolidate that and start working through BRYCU up to a similar level.
Bought a new practice amp for myself a Yamaha THR10C a bit pricy, but I'm very pleased with it and getting a much better sound.
I'm hoping to put in a big effort during the Winter months to give my playing a push.
Happy New Year everyone.

Glad you're making progress on your studies and enjoying your new gear. If you're up north, inside guitar playing sure beats outside shoveling. Let that snow pile up!

I have to thank you as well for being a part of this forum and all of the books that you've provided. I was on the old forum as well under the forum name of Bluezhawk, after my Gibson Blueshawk (great guitar, BTW). Got busy and started dealing with some health issues and dropped away
TO ALL: this is pretty simply, just 2 steps needed to make this forum succeed.
If you want this forum to be more active, first start posting!! Post about your favorite player, post about your favorite guitar, post about your favorite old song and post about your favorite newer song. Just post!@
Second, when you see a new post, find a way to reply to even if you are asking questions about what ever the subject is.
I posted a video of Alvin Lee playing The Bluest Blue. Only 1 response. I posted a video of Herb Ellis with Duke Robillard. 1 response. My ego doesn't require a pat on the back to tell me what a great video that I shared but I would like to see people responding back in order to cause members to start talking
Again if you want more activity - start typing!!!!!
Any response? LOL!!!

Season greetings to all. I have been watching the board regularly but had issues trying to log on and since I have not been playing much had little to talk about. Today I finally did a recover password and will post once in a while. Jim

Well, as it is now, I think the Forum develops just great... I really enjoy all the new posts, and I especially like the great music vids and background infos on the artists and songs... IMHO that's exactly what this Forum should be about. (I know John's doing great work collecting and commenting on Blues vids on the BYCU FB page, but I don't do FB). Maybe I should've put it like you did and write: "I want this forum to be more active, please start posting about your favorite player, about your favorite guitar, about your favorite old song and about your favorite newer song. Just post!" However, I didn't, but I surely didn't want to step on anyone's toes, either - and I really hope anyone thinks I'd post here because I do require a pat on the back for sharing thoughts, vids or whatever - remembering the Forum's "good ole days" I got the same motivation to get members people start talking... However, that's not what should be on anyones mind today - the message should be: Tbone & all Hope I wasn't too blunt in my post but sometimes, if the battery is dead on the motorcycle, ya gotta kick start it. Sometimes, we all need a bit of a kick - fortunately, my wife of 30 years is very willing to supply those kicks for me LOL What's the line from the baseball movie - if you build it, they will come? (not a movie buff so I don't remember the title).
