I worked quite a bit on Jeff Beck's "Greensleeves" last week. Having problems with apreggiating the chords at the beginning - when I pick the low E with my thumb, followed by the A also with my thumb, I either A) mute the low E with the side of my thumb or B) miss the A entirely. There's also a couple of parts where you bar the 8th fret and then you have to reach up to the 12th (while still baring the 8th). That tends to get sloppy. And then there's the timing; since it's played without accompaniment, I always feel as if I'm rushing it a bit, or getting too mechanical (Beck plays it very freely). Ah, nothing a bunch more practice won't eventually fix Practiced some Christmas stuff a very little bit, need to spend more time on that. I did manage to get Amplitube 4 working with ASIO 4 All, but haven't spent much time on it since I've been busy with acoustic. I don't want to try and set up Reaper to work with ASIO 4 all because it's a pain in the a** and I need to record Greensleeves by Monday and don't want my DAW rendered nonoperational before then lol. Ah what the hell, here's the rough draft version of Greensleeves. I don't want Phil to be the only one posting a video this week

Jack, you're really making me jealous. That was pretty damn good for a work in progress. Nothing new from me this week. I'm still slugging away and wondering if I'm making any progress. I'm not sure if the unstructured practice I've been doing for the past few months for is helping or not, but I'm enjoying it more. I was brousing thru John G's "Jazzin' the Blues" this morning. Man, there's a lot of good stuff in there that I forgot about. If anybody wants to learn some solid basic music theory that book is loaded with it. Of course, it's also loaded with good Jazz Blues progressions and melodies/licks. I highly recommend it for anybody who wants to make a smooth transition into Jazz. Not much activity on the forum the past few months, but at least we're keeping it from dying out completely.

Well i am funking it up this week! Spent most of my lesson working on playing a funk rhythm! I actually have it down pretty good but have 3 hours playing it over and over! Persistence.

Spent too much time working again this week... Jack, that was really cool. Great playing and nice acoustic recording, too. I'm glad you didn't let Phil be the only to put up a video this week!

Jack, I really enjoy your acoustic videos - also this one, thanks for sharing!
I cannot find the video by Phil you are talking about.

Joachim, this is just a joke to shame me into making a video. Now they've got thousands of forum viewers searching for a nonexistent video.
I don't know if I can handle much more of this blatant intimidation.

Are the tabs from "the truth" album book by any chance? I'm still plugging away also, mainly acoustic for now, and still taking lessons...I've not bought any gear all year though!!!

Phil, sometimes you've just got to tell me to piss off Anyhow, I think I'm going to call this my "Not done but as good as it's gonna get" version of this tune. I'm getting sick of practicing it and now I'll get on with some Christmas stuff Oh yeah I was gonna get to work on April Wine's "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" sometime too - already got the backing tracks downloaded and ready to go.

Mick, that tab is from an old "Acoustic Classics" magazine put out by Guitar for the Practicing Musician magazine back in the summer of 1988. It's the version from "Truth". Ah good ol' Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck together, those were the days Hey we've gotta do something about this not buying any new guitars stuff! Surely there's a "better" (or at least more expensive) acoustic we both need?!?!

Jack, great playing on "Greensleeves." I'd have made 47 mistakes in the 1st 30 seconds.
Are you playing strictly from memory or do you have to look at the tab? If you've memorized it don't play it it for a week and then see if you can still play it. That's a good test. Of course, any song has to be reviewed periodically or it will fade from memory, but you should be able to go a couple of weeks without forgetting it.
Keep bugging me about the video. I need to be reminded.

Sounds really good Jack.
Good week for me, put in a lot of hours on guitar. About 3/4 of the time was working on the project with my S-I-L. We've got a prelude, intro, verse, and chorus which I made up worked out into a rough arrangement. I also had an old outro that I wanted to discard but he really likes it. Sigh, guess I'll keep it. All that's left is the interlude and I've been cogitating and experimenting with that.
Electric Gypsy is taking up most of the rest of my time. Still inching forward on it. Won't be much more than a coupla-three years before I can bumble through the intro and have it recognizable (so the optimist in me says).
I work 4 days this week then I'm off until Monday after Thanksgiving. My goal for that time is to get that interlude sketched out and a rough cut at it tracked so S-I-L can do his thing.

Thanks everybody! Phil I'm mostly playing it from tab, though it's not that far from where I don't have to look at it anymore. I really should keep practicing these songs periodically, then when somebody asks if I play guitar I can do something other than noodle
