I had an okay week of practice, played most every day, but I'm getting a little bored with "Landslide" so the practice sessions were getting a little shorter. I hope to have a complete recording done by Wednesday as Griff is having one of those webinars Thursday where he listens to people's recordings and gives feedback. So that's the due date! I still haven't practiced the solo nearly enough, so I better get on it now lol. I wasn't at all happy with the recorded sound I was getting from my cheap MXL mic's so I got a matched pair of Rode small diaphragm condenser mic's, they sound tremendously better - what I hear when I play is what it sounds like when it's recorded. The MXL's had some big frequency peak in the high end that made it sound like there was chorus or reverb or some weird thing on it (not natural at all) and they also had a frequency peak in the midrange that made it sound like the A string was ringing out - annoyingly loudly - throughout the entire verse sections. Overall it sounded processed and just plain crummy. The Rode mic's are much more transparent and natural sounding. Anyhow, I better get practicing

Well bout same as always but did have solid 5 to 6 hours of practice. New class material we are looking at improv licks and also starting Joe Bonamassa song I dont believe.
Also relocated my practice area to basement corner. So have various options for practice. Can use amp with backing through my main stereo, can use secondary amp for tracks or trio plus, can use gt001 head phones. Also have a large monitor in place so can see videos better.

I started over on MBYCU, trying to use the studies as a baseline for doing something on my own. I've only done it for a week, but so far it's been fun.

Well, pretty crummy week here - had to work this weekend, so playing time off. Leave on vacation later this week, be gone for two weeks, so will probably miss weekly update for at least two, and maybe three, weeks. Playing time will be 0. Hoping to come back rejuvenated and refocused!

For some reason woke up this morning thinking about a bar in the River area I went to once, big Porch blues band and buckets of beer. Lol. Bonus really hot red head from Tulsa was hitting on me, wanting a one night stand after a bad break up. Lol

I'm a little late to the party this week. Nothing exciting to report. Been working on playing rhythm and connecting chords using bass notes. Maybe I'll upload a short private video to show you what I'm talking out. I really like my new practice routine. I just look at the short list of what I want to work on this month and select something.

I started over on MBYCU, trying to use the studies as a baseline for doing something on my own. I've only done it for a week, but so far it's been fun. I planned to go thru MBYCU again when I finished it, but I got sidetracked and never did. One of these days I'd like to take another look at it. There is so much good stuff in that book. Did you ever finish "Rakin' in the Funk"? The only 2 studies I didn't record were "8-Bar Boogie" and "Rakin". I didn't record "8-Bar" because I couldn't play it at full tempo. I should have just recorded a slower version. "Rakin" was the only study I didn't like. I gave it a shot, but I simply couldn't get into it. I couldn't see myself ever playing in that style. BTW, out of 3 books in the series that I worked thru cover-to-cover that's the only study I truly didn't like. Keep us posted on your progress.

Well, I got a few minutes of practice each of Friday and Saturday. Not much to report. I didn't forget anything in the 17ish days of layoff. For the most part I stayed at the slowest increment of the tempo range I was working at for all the Electric Gypsy stuff (~60% tempo) while trying to pay attention to careful and accurate articulation.

I didn't make recordings of most of the studies, at least none that I shared. Maybe I will record Rakin' in the Funk - I kinda liked it. My progress is very limited these days, though, as I more less have two jobs right now. But I try to just play at last a little every day.
