Interesting stuff to think about - from someone who struggles with BOTH motivation AND discipline... I know we've had discussions about the mind-numbing repetition required to progress your guitar playing, and that playing a musical instrument is, in fact, a physical skill that requires physical training.

Bruce, at least as guitarists we have an easy fix for lacking motivation - buying more guitars.

Seriously, I see what you're saying. Maybe that's why I'll keep buying more instructional books - it's my cheaper substitute for buying another guitar! On the other hand, maybe because it's less expensive, I don't get as much motivation - there's some cost proportionality factor at play in this... |
