I worked on a few worthwhile things last week.
I got back into reading standard notation. It's more of a deciphering thing than actually reading. I noticed that it was easier than in the past. Now, if I would just force myself to do it a little bit everyday. I want to delve into the 2nd half of the Mickey Baker book which doesn't have tab.
After a little conversation with Bruce about chord melody resources I remembered a book I bought not too long ago on solo guitar arranging by Howard Morgen. It's made up of a series of articles he did for Guitar Player magazine. It's loaded with useful/applicable information.
I started working on "White Christmas" again. I recorded it last year and would like to record a better version this year.
I played again with another guitarist. That's worth pursuing on a regular basis. We sound horrible so there's only one direction to go. I was in garage bands as a kid and didn't have a problem playing with other people. I don't understand why it's so difficult now.

I just putzed around a bit with past unfinished projects - several Zeppelin songs, that "Can't Find My Way Home" tune, and a bit of Pink Floyd. Funny when I open my old Reaper projects and see all the work I did on those songs, only to let the projects die. There was a book (or 5) of Christmas songs around here someplace, I suppose there's still a chance I could get an easy one half-learned by the 25th. Too bad they're not coming out with the Jimmy Page Tele until next year, now I've got nothing to put under the Christmas tree except some DVD's lol.

Phil, is it the version of White Christmas by John you're working on? I am trying to learn that one myself.

Hi all. I been working on Honky Tonk instructor had me move from key of F to A, and we also pulled some of the licks to show how they can be used in a basic blues.
Wife gave me to go ahead for the ASAT cause it went on sale again, after calling found it had a 7.5 in radius so not sure i would like to buy without testing. Plus still thinking i might rather have a strat. Anyone played a tele and strat might chime in on versatility. I figure if i wait til my birthday could go try a few like the elite and pro versions but havent played any. Hmmmmm
Not sure i posted but added a standy power switch from billm site to my blues jr. Nice little mod.

Here's the one from last year:

Nice little mod. I would definitely try another guitar with the same radius. 7.5 in a pretty tight curve. You may or may not like it. I didn't know anything about fretboard radius until I got the Ibanez AF75. The Ibanez has a much flatter fetboard than my Squier Strat. I found that the Ibanez is much more comfortable for me.

Yeah my 335 has a 12” feels nice, i really like my carvin but I cant find any specs but it is really flat with medium jumbo frets. I want a single coil guitar though.

Mostly same-old for me. On the Electric Gypsy lick I (conservatively) crossed the 10,000 rep mark. I'd been working at 70% tempo but progress has stalled so I'm going to split my time between 65% and 70% tempo this week. I've also been working on the entire intro into which the lick fits. That's coming along way better than expected. This week I'll be working the turnaround lick from Pride and Joy at 90-95% tempo. I've also been working the whole first chorus and that's coming along too. I feel like I'm repeating myself talking about all my weekly repetitions.

I feel the same repeating but I think it’s good for us to post every week as it provides us time to reflect.
