Good week. Hours-wise 15 or so. Should be up to 9,000 or so reps of the AT/EG phrase, and a similarly generous number on the SRV/P&J turnaround. Have started working the whole first chorus of P&J, which is pretty cool, and coming along much better than anticipated. I'll be working the turnaround phrase at 90%-95% tempo, and the whole chorus at 90% tempo. This coming week I'll start working on the main intro theme to Electric Gypsy and work the tricks lick at 70%.
Otherwise not much to say. I'm liking how things are going.

I got my new amp a couple of days ago. It's just a little Fender Mustang 1. Spent a few hours trying to dial in a good Jazz tone. I'll probably be chasing the "perfect" tone for the rest of my life. I don't know what it is, but I'll know it when I hear it. However, it sounds much better than ANY tone I've been able to get going direct thru an interface. With overdriven/distorted guitar I could get an acceptable sound, but trying to get a clean sound was impossible for me going direct. I found that I have to alter my picking attack (finger-style, haven't used a pick all year). Apparently, I've been plucking quite hard when playing acoustically, and that doesn't sound good at all thru the amp. I've been paying close attention to some of my favorite finger-style players recently and they all appear to have a very delicate picking attack. I'll have to work on that. Anyway, the amp has got me motivated to practice away from the TV which will certainly have some benefits (I hope). The other thing I did this week was to play with another guitarist. I can't begin to describe how different that is from playing solo or even with a backing track. I couldn't play anything right. My mind went totally blank. More on this next week as we're going to do it again.

I just practiced the more advanced version of the "Sunshine of Your Love" solo a bit, and now I'm kind of deciding what to start on next. I bought a pedal a few months ago to simulate that David Gilmour tone, maybe I should brush the dust off it and give it some use Made a video of myself this morning LOL

Well, sounds like everyone has had a much better week musically than I have. Joachim even put up a video! I came down with a head cold Monday, finally feeling better Friday, but having to work this weekend. Didn't touch the guitar all week. At least the fingertip I had irritated last week feels fine now. Oh, and at least I don't have to run a snow blower!
