Here's some blues from Leslie West and Joe Bonamassa.

This is more in regards to the other LW thread, but I've been looking for a good song to transcribe (attempt anyway) as an ear training exercise, and I think Mississippi Queen jumped out as a great candidate. Thanks for the inspiration. I can't watch the video because I don't want too many hints from watching. Believe it or not I've never even tried to play that song in all these years. This video was pretty cool too.

This video was pretty cool too. Since I can't play worth damn, the least I could do is be inspiring. The guy in the video about the disappearing metronome is always stressing the importance of transcribing and has a series of tips on transcribing on his website. You might find it informative. Right now I'm having a problem in playing stuff that has already been transcribed , but this is something I really should start doing soon. Phil

Phil, it was actually the guy you mentioned that got the bug in my ear, as well as the guy at creative guitar studio (tons of stuff on youtube). I guess it's one of those things I've "known" on some level I should be doing, just never get around too because of how ubiquitous tabs and youtube "lessons" are. Hopefully I'll take the plunge soon. It's on my March schedule in pencil (I worry about biting off too much and choking on the whole mess). I've also started another facet of ear training where I try to "sing" notes I'm playing on the guitar, scales or little riffs or whatever. It's an extremely good thing that I live alone except for a pair of elderly dogs whose hearing is substantially degraded. Sounds sorta like a cat whose tail is being fed into a meat grinder an inch at a time.
