Most people know Eric Johnson because of his song Cliffs of Dover and view Eric as more a technical player. I used to be one of those people until I came across his performance at the House of Blues in Chicago and I was totally amazed at his blues power. I've posted 3 songs from that, 1st one is a tribute to John Lee Hooker titled Boogie King, 2nd one is titled Enzo Shuffle, 3rd is a great slow blues titled World of Trouble He was playing a ES335 on the first 2 and his trusty Strat on the 3rd and his tone was very much like the tone that Clapton used during the Cream years.
The entire album is available on You Tube: look for Eric Johnson Live at the House of Blues 1997 (entire full complete )

I took my son to see Eric Johnson in the early '90s in Charleston, SC. It was the 1st concert I'd been to in 20 years. It was a small venue with a low stage and I was standing about 10 feet away from Eric. This guy has the most incredible technique I ever saw. It's like his left hand was specifically designed to play guitar. Muscular fingers that touched the fretboard perfectly perpendicular to the fretboard. Extremely precise technique. It was the only time I've ever seen a guitarist of that caliber up close. It was quite impressive.
